IWIL Reaffirms Commitment to Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

March 28, 2025

The Institute for Well-Being in Law (IWIL) stands firm in our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) as essential to lawyer well-being and the profession’s future. As articulated in our DEI Policy, we believe well-being cannot be achieved without addressing systemic barriers that have historically excluded and marginalized individuals in the legal field. We remain resolute in supporting those who face discrimination and hostility, particularly in this challenging climate.

We reject efforts to roll back progress and reaffirm that inclusion is not optional—it is a core value of our mission. A legal profession that fails to embrace diversity and inclusion undermines both its integrity and its ability to serve the public effectively. IWIL will continue to advocate for meaningful change, ensuring that all members of the profession have the opportunity to thrive in environments free from bias, harassment, and exclusion.

Our commitment to DEI is not just aspirational; it is embedded in our strategic mission and action plan. As outlined in our Strategic Plan, we will advance policies, education, and initiatives that promote equity and justice. We will continue working alongside national affinity bar associations to amplify our collective impact, strengthen support networks, and drive systemic change. We urge all members of the legal community to join us in upholding these values and pushing forward, undeterred, toward a profession that truly reflects the diversity of the society it serves.
